Man Arrested by FIA for Harassing Women on Facebook

A man named as Umar Raja has been arrested by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for harassing and blackmailing women on famous social media platform Facebook. He was arrested on June 21 from Islamabad and remanded into FIA custody for five days on 22nd.

Raja is a resident of Ghauri Town in Islamabad. According to the reports he has been involved in different cases of harassing and blackmailing women. At first he becomes friends with girls through Facebook and then he starts blackmailing them for money.

After complaints from some women, were taken into account,Raja was arrested by FIA’s Cyber Crime Control wing. Before making the arrest the wing first carried out its investigations before making the arrest. The case was registered against him under the Electronic Transaction Ordinance 2002 and the Pakistan Penal Code.

The suspect had confessed to the commission of offences during the interrogation and also surrendered electronic equipment used in the commission of offences as well as usernames and passwords of the Facebook profiles in question.

The court sent the suspect on 14-day judicial custody and directed the FIA to produce him again on July 10th.
