Senate Standing Committee on Postal Services in its meeting after a thorough discussion has approved ‘The Pakistan Courier and Logistics Regulatory Authority Bill, 2018’ moved by Senator Khushbakht Shujaat.

Senate Body Approves Pakistan Courier and Logistics Authority Bill

The Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Behramand Tangi here at the Parliament House on Monday. The Committee chairperson Senator Khushbakht Shujaat being the mover of the bill surrendered the chair so as to continue the proceedings neutrally. The meeting was attended among others by Senators Mirza Muhammad Afridi, Anwar Lal Deen, Naseebullah Bazai, Secretary Postal Services, Advisor from Law Division and Director General Pakistan Post.

Ministry of Postal Services, Law Division, and Post Office supported the bill and termed it much-needed legislation. After this becomes an Act all private courier and logistics companies, as well as Pakistan Post, will come under a regulatory setup.

The bill after passage from the Senate will be referred to the National Assembly.

Just recently, Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed launched an E-Commerce initiative’ at Pakistan Post, aimed at turning around the loss-making entity into a profitable one by introducing innovations.
