3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan Reaches 62 Million
No doubt with the launch of 3G and 4G services in Pakistan, many opportunities are welcomed and with each passing day, we are witnessing a rise in 3G/4G subscribers. According to the recent report issued by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), one more milestone is achieved as telecom sector witnesses 62 million 3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan with penetration of 29.55% by the end of December 2018.
3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan Reaches 62 Million
The stats simply narrates the success story of efforts of Pakistani mobile operator’s regarding digital Pakistan initiatives and providing the best ecosystem in the country. In December 2017, 3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan were 47 Million. From these stats, it is evident that just in just in a period of 1 year, telecom sector of Pakistan has witnessed 16 millions more 3G/4G subscriber.

As evident from the table above, 4G LTE subscribers have crossed 21 million mark with Zong being a market leader with ~9.8 million subscribers. 3G has also seen huge growth and has crossed 40 million mark, this time Jazz won the game. 3G Plus 4G combined subscribers crossed 61 million with Jazz being the market leader with ~2084 million subscribers.
Number of Subscribers by Dec End compared to End November:
A number of 3G subscribers of Jazz are 13.79 million by end of December 2018, compared to 14.06 by end November, registering a decrease of 0.279 million. However, Jazz 4G subscribers have increased from 6.58 million by November 2018 to 7.053 million.
Zong 3G subscribers have witnessed a growth of 0.03 from 8.66 million subscribers by the end of November to 8.69 by December 2018. The number of 3G customers at  Telenor have decreased from 9.32 million by November to 9.13 million by end of December. Like Jazz, a number of 4G subscribers of Telenor have jumped from 4.39 million by November end to 4.73 million by end December. Ufone has added 0.122 million 3Gsubscribers on its pool by end of December 2018.
The telecom sector of Pakistan has undergone through huge transformations after the arrival of 3G and 4G services in the country. From the increase in mobile phone penetration to the launch of various m-Services; Pakistan’s telecom sector has become a success story for some regional countries who are left behind in the technological race.
