A New Technology Uses RF Waves to See Your Body through Wall

A new technology has recently created by Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory that can see your body through walls. The system uses radio waves to recreates your poses when you walk, sit, or simply stand still. By using RF waves it sense where you are and then recreates a simple stick figure of your body. It is called RF-Pose.

A New Technology Can See Your Body through Wall

A neural network is used by researchers to analyze radio signals that bounce off bodies of people, and can then create a dynamic stick figure that moves its limbs, walks, stops and sits as the person performs those actions.

The researchers have wrote that:

“All data the team collected has subjects’ consent and is anonymized and encrypted to protect user privacy, For future real-world applications, the team plans to implement a ‘consent mechanism’ in which the person who installs the device is cued to do a specific set of movements in order for it to begin to monitor the environment.”

The researchers reported that this new technology could be used to monitor diseases like Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis (MS). It can be helpful to provide a better understanding of disease progression and allows doctors to adjust medications accordingly. By providing the added security of monitoring for falls, injuries and changes in activity patterns, it can help aged people live more independently.
