AI Adoption Drives Pakistan’s IT Exports as Call Center Revenue Crosses $320 Million

Pakistan’s call center and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry is emerging as one of the fastest-growing contributors to the country’s IT exports. The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI), combined with a growing demand for outsourced services, has helped the sector achieve impressive export growth during the current fiscal year.
According to the latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), call center exports reached $322 million during the first eleven months of fiscal year 2025-26 (July to May). This marks a significant increase from $269 million recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The industry posted an annual growth of 19%, adding $53 million in export earnings despite ongoing global economic uncertainties. The steady rise highlights Pakistan’s expanding role in the international outsourcing market and the growing competitiveness of its technology-enabled service providers.

Industry experts believe that one of the key reasons behind this growth is the adoption of artificial intelligence in customer support operations. AI-powered tools are helping companies automate repetitive tasks, improve response times, and enhance customer service quality. As a result, Pakistani call centers are becoming more efficient while reducing operational costs, allowing them to compete more effectively in global markets.
Dr. Munawar Javed Ahmed, a researcher specializing in AI integration, said that AI-based solutions are transforming the global outsourcing industry by increasing efficiency, lowering business expenses, and improving service quality. He added that Pakistan has a strong opportunity to establish itself as a preferred global outsourcing destination by investing further in digital infrastructure, workforce training, and AI technologies.
The rapid expansion of the BPO industry is also creating new employment and business opportunities, particularly for young professionals. As international companies continue to outsource customer support, technical assistance, and back-office operations, Pakistan’s skilled English-speaking workforce is well-positioned to meet this growing demand.
According to the Call Center Association of Pakistan, nearly 90% of the country’s call centers and BPO companies primarily serve international clients. The remaining businesses provide customer support and business services to multinational companies operating in Pakistan, as well as utility service providers and domestic enterprises.
The country’s outsourcing ecosystem has also grown considerably over the past few years. Pakistan currently has more than 1,000 call centers registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB). In addition, industry estimates suggest that around 500 medium and large independent call centers operate across major cities without formal registration under the board.

Beyond these larger organizations, hundreds of smaller customer support centers are functioning under software houses, digital marketing agencies, e-commerce companies, and technology startups. These businesses collectively contribute to the country’s expanding digital economy while providing employment to thousands of skilled workers.
The continued growth of Pakistan’s call center industry reflects the country’s increasing focus on technology-driven exports. With AI becoming an essential part of customer service operations worldwide, local companies are adapting quickly to meet international standards.
If Pakistan continues investing in digital infrastructure, AI adoption, and workforce development, the BPO sector is expected to play an even greater role in boosting IT exports and attracting global outsourcing contracts. The latest export figures demonstrate that the industry is well on its way to becoming a major pillar of Pakistan’s digital economy while creating long-term opportunities for businesses and young professionals alike.
