According to Forbes, Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Became the World’s Richest Person For Few Hours. Due to the jump in the share price of the US tech giant he overtook bill gates, who was termed as the world’s richest man.

Forbes revealed the real time tracking of personal fortunes showed Jeff with net worth of $90.5 billion which was more than  $90 billion of Bill Gates.

After Jeff was termed as the most richest person, Amazon reported its second quarter earnings, showing a profit of just $197 million on strong sales of $38 billion. A drop of 77 percent from $857 million this time a year ago, is mainly due to Amazon’s aggressive investments in its own business.

Jeff Bezos owns around 17% of Amazon’s equity. Being an online retailer to an ever expanding firm in cloud computing, online video, computing hardware, Amazon is ever growing in industry.

Amazon also plans to acquire US grocer Whole Foods which will definitely expand Amazon’s sector. The shares of online retailer, Amazon were 1.7% at $1,070.72 and have risen to 24% over the period of four months.

For the past five years, Bill gates has retained its position as the world’s richest person. He remained of number 18th for the past 22 years. Magnate Carlos Slim overtook Bill Gates during the period of 2010 to 2013.  Facebook owner, Mark Zuckerberg has an estimated worth of $72.9 billion.

Most of the Jeff’s wealth is earned via Amazon, however he also owns a private space firm Blue Origin and Washington Post Newspaper. However even if Jeff has not crossed Bill Gates and stood second this time, It is expected that in no time he will become World’s richest person.
