An Algorithm Will Detect Cancer in 2 Hours
Artificial intelligence is now getting entered in every field of life. The robots and drones are functional on artificial intelligence. Today, AI has become an important part of our daily lives. Our life has changed by AI because it is now used in a wide variety of day to day services.
AI is also helping doctors across the world in order to detect diseases. Doctors are relying on artificial intelligence algorithms to accelerate diagnostics and treatment plans. They are using AI to make see more patients with greater precision.
An Algorithm Will Detect Cancer in 2 Hours
Quartz collaborated with Leon Chen, co-founder of medical AI startup MD.ai, and radiologist Luke Oakden-Rayner, in order to train two algorithms and understand how it matches with a medical professional as it learns. One detects the presence of tumorous nodules, and the second gauge the potential of it being malignant.
Cancer doctors are overburdened. Artificial Intelligence is good at identifying pattern. Now AI has access to an unprecedented amount of information about cancer. Scientists have designed an algorithm that can successfully “read” the molecular signature of the cancer-driving defect and identify patients who could benefit from treatment with PARP inhibitors.
The artificial intelligence that is designed for medical use is no doubt a complicated pattern matching. An algorithm is exposed to many many medical scans of organs with tumors, along with tumor-free images, and tasked with learning the patterns that differentiate the two categories.
