Angry Birds Space – Red Planet is the next blockbuster!
Angry Birds is the 4th most downloaded application in the world in 2011. The game has managed to pull 8.5/10 ratings on all major review forms, for all iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Facebook and Chrome versions. It looks like the Mars Curiosity rover isn’t the only thing landing on Mars this year. Rovio just took the lid off of its next major Angry Birds update, Angry Birds Space: Red Planet. A brief video is out but that doesn’t reveal too much about the next update for the Angry Birds franchise.
Angry Birds Space hit an incredible 100 million downloads so quickly, it became the fastest selling mobile game of all time. Rovio is looking for a repeat when the Angry Birds Space: Red Planet update comes out this fall. Back in May, the franchise hit a benchmark with the 1 billionth Angry Birds download. The current Angry Birds Space is 99 cents at the Google Pay Store and in the Apple App Store.
Amid talk that the Angry Birds phenomenon is suffering a bad case of overexposure, last month Rovio announced that they will be offering a new game that will allow players to play as the beleaguered pigs. The game is expected to be out before the holidays and speculation is that players will be defending the eggs stolen from the birds by launching the pigs into the air to stop the birds from attacking.
Rovio recently launched its new physics based game, Amazing Alex, which zoomed to the top of the Apple iPhone charts in 35 countries with its 99 cent app, and leads Apple iPad apps in 50 countries with the $2.99 HD version. There is also an ad-supported free version.
So, Angry Birds fans, is the game still as fresh and exciting as ever, or is Colonel Sanders about to fry up some new Kentucky Fried birds. We’ll know it soon!
