184th Board of Directors meeting of Telephone Industries of Pakistan (TIP) was convened here. The meeting was headed by Minister of State for IT & Telecom Anusha Rahman.

Federal Secretary IT Mr. Azmat Ali Ranjha, MD T.I.P Mr. Zia ul Haq, Member Legal Ms. Ameena Sohail, Member HR Mr. Tahir Mushtaq and other Board Members were also their during the meeting.

The Board decided approval of different committees of the Board and their ToR’s in accordance with shared governance rules.

The Board also notified TIP management to solve their all outstanding financial and land/properties problems with management of PTCL and NRTC on exigent basis. Committee was further informed that TIP has 2,415 kanals of land but only 432 kanals is in its possession while 611 kanals are presently with NRTC and left over land is controlled by PTCL.

It was firmly indicated that the Board would not stand any kind of derelictions in TIP and TIP assets should only be used for its authorize purposes.

Government is idyllically aiming to recuperate TIP and then impart it to any mobile phone maker for local manufacturing of mobile phones. Specified the present situation of TIP, plan looks far fetched idea but not wholly impossible.
