Early this year Google parent, Alphabet outdid Apple as the world’s leading company by market value for a certain period. Apple then reclaimed, its missing and recovered the lead place in May in a battle that seems set to continue for a certain time span.

“Apple has delivered a line of must-have iPhones and other gadgets that have set trends around the world but now appears to be a little bit immobile.”

Says Roger Kay, expert at Endpoint Technologies Associates.

Apple shares have fell some 30 percent during the past 12 months over disquiets that its spectacular growth speed is reducing and that the iPhone won’t be able to generate revenues as it has till now.

Kay told that Apple may be losing the place of innovation leader it attained after the iPhone, with no new foremost market leader products coming.

“They haven’t really changed the nature of the game. The (Apple) Watch came in, it was kind of interesting, people liked it … but developers are still searching for exactly how to use it.”

Kay said.

In the meantime Google, has been changing from a pure search engine to a forerunner in mobile with its Android operating system. And it has at the same time been capitalizing in “moonshots” outstanding endeavors that may have potential such as self-driving cars, fibre networks and internet balloons.

“Google has positioned itself well, through organic investments and acquisitions, for most of the major trends in consumer internet: mobile, video, local.”

Revealed RBC Capital Markets analyst Mark Mahaney in a research note.

Kay was of the view that the Android system which powers almost 80% of mobile handsets is a valued franchise that benefits Google’s mobile publicity efforts.

“The narrative that has boosted Google is the one about technology innovation and being at the wellhead of various important technologies.”

Kay revealed.

The expected launch of iPhone 7 later this year, will be an important occasion for the prevalent company. So keep your fingers crossed and hope that like all other models it also becomes a success and attract customers to trade up.
