Samsung is also reported to launch foldable phone in early 2018. Fast company yesterday reported that Apple received a patent for foldable smartphone. The patent was filed on Sept. 22, 2016 terming the device as a flexible display which can be folded.

Apple patent revealed that: “may be formed from shape memory alloy or amorphous metal and may have openings to facilitate bending.”

However there are important factors which should be kept in mind such as battery sustainability should be taken in consideration when creating a foldable device.

The concept of folding phone is new but it is already discussed before. Samsung already plan to Launch First Ever Folding Screen Phone in January 2018. The folding phones were in rumors for years and people were releasing certain videos to show how folding phone will look like.

Reports indicated that Apple bendable screen will be OLED. Apple has obtained patent for a screen that would retract into itself like a scroll or Fruit Roll-Up.
