Apple Reveals the Reason Behind the Failure of iPhone X Face ID Demo
When Apple launched iPhone X at the event, the next thing people were expecting was that it should also unveil its news feature that is Face ID. Out of utter embarrassment, Face ID demo badly failed on the event. Many journalist taking the advantage of situation bashed Apple for this on Social media. Finally Apple has come up to an explanation for it to tackle the situation.
Craig Federighi carried the demo, and looked to unlock it using Face ID. The phone failed to respond for the first time. He tried again with the same phone. The phone instead of being operational asked for passcode.
Apple clarified it to Yahoo about the failure of Face ID recognition at the event. The phone was used a lot of people before they placed it for demo on the stage. iPhone X tried to scan and authenticate every face it came in front of. After failing for several times it asked for password which is a normal phone behavior.
Apple said in the statement:
“People were handling the device for stage demo ahead of time and didn’t realize Face ID was trying to authenticate their face. After failing a number of times, because they weren’t Craig, the iPhone did what it was designed to do, which was to require his passcode. In other words, Face ID worked as it was designed to.”
The iPhone is designed to ask for the password when the Face ID fails to detect a face correctly. So it was a normal behavior of phone. However they should have taken proper precautionary measures to avoid such embarrassment.
