Apple’s iOS 10 Replaces ‘Slide to Unlock’ with “Press Home to Open”

iOS 10 is the latest operating system software for iPad & iPhone. It was announced at the Apple’s annual WWDC 2016 get-together in San Francisco on 13 June 2016. Soon after the announcement iOS 10 has got the world’s attention of how this version is different from the previous one.  One of the most interesting change which the company has followed is to replace its traditional way of unlocking the phone with something different now.

Apple’s iOS 10 Replaces ‘Slide to Unlock’ with “Press Home to Open”

To unlock the screen, Apple used to unlock its devices by swiping on the lock screen from left to right with the statement “Slide to Unlock”.  In iOS 10, Apple has changed the unlocking mechanism from Slide-to-unlock to Press-home-to-open.

Apple did not follow the simple mechanism in which you used to place your finger on the home button for opening the phone. In the new iOS 10, first you have to scan your finger, and then hit the home button to unlock your phone.  The updated version also provides dots below the “Press home to unlock” text. They suggest that additional actions are available on the lock screen by swiping left or right.

After so many years of unlocking your iPhone by swiping-to-unlock will probably annoy many of the users, at least at first. However, the transition will be easier, because now you don’t have to press the button after your fingerprint is scanned to actually unlock the iPhone. So update your iPhone to iOS 10 version and enjoy the transformation.
