Belarus-Pakistan to Establish Joint Center for Science & Technology Cooperation

On Thursday, Pakistan-Belarus Joint Commission on Science and Technology (JCST) approved to boost collaboration between the two countries in the fields of science and technology. Belarus-Pakistan to Establish Joint Center for Science & Technology Cooperation.

This was decided during the second meeting of Pakistan-Belarus JCST. It was held at the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR).

Vice Chairman of JCST and Head of the Department of Science and Innovation Activities in the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Viktor Volosatikov led the Belarusian delegation. While PCSIR Chairman Dr Shahzad Alam led the Pakistani delegation.

The JCST appraised the development of the decisions, made during 1st JCST’s meeting held in August 2015 in Minsk, Belarus. The mutual commission deliberated and approved the edicts for the establishment of a Belarus-Pakistan Joint Center for Science and Technology Cooperation.

It is worth mentioning that the alleged center is going to be established at the PCSIR head office. Officially it would start functioning in October this year.

In the meantime, an action plan for the execution of a MoU signed earlier between Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) and Belarus State Committee for Standardization (SCS) was also discussed.

The JCST also had a brief in the consensual research and development projects. They were apprehended as follow up of the 1st JCST meeting. They gave their consent to go ahead for executing these tasks.
