Beware Of WhatsApp Gold Virus That’s Circulating Again

WhatsApp Hoax!

WhatsApp Gold Virus is actually a hoax message that encourages users to download a fake update. It has been doing the rounds since 2016 and now it’s back again.

Beware- WhatsApp Gold Virus Is Back

WhatsApp Gold is a hoax that is being set up by scammers. It encourages users to think that there is a secret update that can give them enhanced features of the messaging app. However, that’s not the case. WhatsApp had already previously confirmed that WhatsApp Gold is a hoax.  The company stated on this issue that :

“Plus have no relationship with WhatsApp and the company does not support WhatsApp Plus.”

The scammers have designed a message to trick users. The message sent to users contain a link that result in downloading the virus instead of any Gold Version. The scammers usually send a link supposedly enabling people to download WhatsApp Gold, but in fact, meant users downloaded malware. In addition to that, Martinelli is also related to WhatsApp Gold in the sense that they are referenced in the same message. It created a similar panic to WhatsApp Gold in 2017 as well and now it’s back.

According to the latest reports, a message that is currently appearing on some users’ phones states that:

“If you know anyone using WhatsApp you could pass on this. An IT colleague has advised that a video came out from WhatsApp called Martinelli, so, do not open it, it hacks your phone and nothing will fix it. Spread the word.”

So, if a message began circulating about a video of the same name, DO NOT OPEN IT! It will download a virus to your phone if it gets opened. Any new updates to WhatsApp will usually happen automatically through the app itself. So, beware of clicking on links embedded in messages that promise something new or interesting. If you receive such a message, then ignore it and delete it immediately.
