Breaking News: Ufone and PTCL CEOs Replaced by Etisalat Group
The rumor is finally made official by the Etisalat Board today. The board has made changes to the CEOs of Ufone and PTCL by replacing Mr. Waleed Irshad with Dr. Danial Ritz; as Wleed Irshad got retired today. Whereas Ufone CEO Mr. Abdul Aziz is replaced with Mr. Reiner Rathgeber. He was among the pioneer officials who launched Ufone in 2001.

Mr. Aziz has served as the pioneer CEO of Ufone from 2007 til 2016. Presently, he was among the two Pakistani CEO as all operator’s CEOs are foreigners. He remained at good positions during his career before Ufone experience. He was also part of Warid Telecom ( – Chief Financial Officer and many other renowned telecom companies like Millicom International Cellular, Celltel etc. while gaining a total of 23 years experience of senior management.

Mr. Rainer, new CEO of Ufone, has almost 21 years of vast experience in the Telecom Industry across 4 different continents. He was already looking at Etisalat functioning in Pakistan hence he has deep knowledge of Pakistan’s telecom market and its trends. Mr. Rainer extended experience will play fundamental role in improving Ufone’s deteriorating position as the company has become forth largest operator from number one.
The another new CEO of PTCL, Dr. Daniel Ritz, who remained at Etisalat Group as Chief Strategy Officer since 2012 and in BOD of PTCL as well, will replace Mr. Walid Irshaid, from today. He has experience of working in many international telecommunication organizations including Maroc Telecom, GSMA, Thuraya etc. Let’s see how PTCL improves under the CEO-ship of new CEO who has strategy background, as it’s performance has remained unsatisfactory during the last few years.
