Cellphones Import Increases by 7.68 Percent

Imports of cellphones increased by 7.68 percent to $465.658 million during the first eight months (July-Feb) of 2014-15 as compared to $432.433m in the same period last year.

In February, the imports increased by 28.61pc to $73.161m against $56.882m in Feb 2014, and by 62.82pc when compared to $44.933m in Jan 2015, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data showed on Monday.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS):

[pull_quote_center]the cell phone imports during July-Feb increased by $33.225. On month-on-month and year-on-year basis, mobile phone imports in the country rose by 28.61 percent and 62.82 percent over the imports during February 2014 and January 2015 respectively.[/pull_quote_center]

The overall telecom imports also increased by 15.43pc to $961.965m during the period under review as compared to $833.399m in July-Feb, 2013-14.

In February, the telecom imports increased by 7.59pc to $115.454m against $107.311m in Feb 2014, and by 21.05pc when compared to $95.378m in Jan 2015. So according to all of these reports its clear that use of technology is at its peak in Pakistan also which is clear from the above calculations. And probably it will increase more because with the new innovations in technology people will be attracted more towards cellphones. As cellphones allow them to perform multiple task in single gadget that’s why it has a huge demand.
