Facebook remains a leading social media platform in Pakistan, with 60.4 million users. A significant gender disparity exists, with 76% of users being male, while 24% are female. This indicates a higher engagement rate among male users on the platform.

YouTube

YouTube has emerged as the most widely used platform, boasting an impressive 71.7 million users. Male users dominate the platform, accounting for 72%, while female users make up 28%. The platformโ€™s popularity highlights its role in entertainment, education, and digital content consumption in Pakistan.

TikTok

TikTok, known for its short video content, has rapidly gained traction with 54.4 million users in the country. The gender gap is even more pronounced here, with 78% of users being male and only 22% female. Despite the disparity, TikTok continues to attract a diverse audience, particularly among the youth.

Instagram

Instagram, a platform popular for photo and video sharing, has 17.3 million users. Compared to other platforms, Instagram shows a relatively smaller gender gap, with 64% male users and 36% female users. Its focus on visual content has made it a favourite among younger generations.

The PTA report highlights the growing adoption of social media in Pakistan but also reveals significant gender disparities across platforms. These statistics underscore the need for inclusive digital policies to bridge the gender gap and promote balanced online participation.
