China to help Pakistan in establishing IT Industrial Park in Sindh. China and Pakistan are planning to set up an IT Industry Park in Sindh. On establishment of this park, MOU was signed, on Monday, between chief minister IT Dr. Sikandar Ali Shoro and Ministry of industry and Information Technology of china.

When the CPEC agreement was signed it was decided that Pakistan and China would be setting up IT industrial parks in every province in Pakistan. Work on Islamabad Industrial Park has been started already and is expected to reach its phase I by 2018. That project is expected to cost 1.5 billion Dollars and will be completed in 3 phases.

Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister on Information and Technology, Dr Sikander Ali Shoro has said that Pakistan-China IT Industrial Park will open new roads of promoting IT sector in Sindh. He said that the world is becoming global village so an IT industrial park was much needed to be part of competition.

Dr. Shoro said that the benefit of this contract is to promote I.T in Sindh for the growth and development of Information Technology.

He added that this industry will also polish IT skills of youth and will create IT awareness among people of the province.

He further explained that this agreement is not just to exchange views, experiences, knowledge in the field of Information Technology and Industrial Development but also to strengthen the strong relations between province of Sindh and Peoples Republic of China.

IT Industrial Park is an area planned and zoned for solely purpose of developing an IT industrial park. This area incorporates numerous companies working for the benefit and development of the industry. It also acts as a dynamic business and trading platform for local and international industries.

Speaking on occasion, PITB chairman Dr Umar Saif said, the MoU was a milestone that would fortify the IT industry in Pakistan which was ignored before.

Considering the MoU another landmark for strengthening the Pak-China friendship,  Hangzhou East Technology Investment Co. Ltd chairman, Song Xiaochun ,said parties would try their best to generate investment leads and share information on the extended opportunities.

While talking to media he said :

“the main purpose of our visit is to get true thoughts and concerns on the Pak-China Economic Corridor and IT Industry Park from central and local governments to finalize a feasibility of the industry park, to investigate potential sites and get to know policies, services and infrastructures, to explore regular consultation mechanism, set up the counterpart communication with central, provincial and local governments and to discuss the Hawk Training Program for Pakistani software talent and promoting the cooperation framework of IT authorities between the two countries.”

No further details about the park were communicated at the time of signing the MoU, however it is expected that this park will be similar in nature to the one under construction in Islamabad.
