Content and Software Development can be the New Cash Cows for IT Sector

Good content is the essential ingredient of content writing. Similarly the software development is also playing significant role in booming the international economies. Both content and software development within IT, due to their gaining momentum, are considered as “sub-sectors” in the IT arena.

The Ministry prepared document for parliament which illustrates that:

“IT exports have risen by 41 per cent in 2014-15 as compared to previous year while impact of 3G technology in economy is also encouraging and within a short span its commercial launch broadband subscribers have crossed 26 million and broadband penetration has gone up from less than 3 per cent to over 15 per cent.”

According to this document, the overall investments in telecom sector including spectrum auction and future investments for telecom infrastructure have crossed US $ 2.668 billion.

It also said that:

“Introduction of 3G/4G (mobile broadband) has not only brought telecom sector on par with developed countries in terms of modern telecom services but also created more avenues of employment in fields of e-commerce, e-health, e-education, IT applications, content development and home-based businesses etc. across Pakistan.”

It also highlighted that a 10% of increase in high-speed internet connections have boosted annual GDP by 1.38% of Pakistan. The document summed up the overall states of telecom sector and asserted that Content and Software development have gain the status of sub-sectors in the field of IT.
