Cristiano Ronaldo Invests in Wearable Tech Startup “Whoop”

In a significant development, Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo invested in a wearable tech startup, Whoop, as it extended to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Will Ahmed, the founder and chief executive of the company, revealed that the Al Nassr player’s investment is one of the largest investments he’s made in a company. Cristiano has been a Whoop member for several years and the company is quite excited to strengthen its relationship further through this partnership. The company claims to unveil exciting product collaborations to enhance the Whoop experience for members.
Cristiano Ronaldo Makes Largest Investment in A Tech Company
As per reports, Ronaldo reached out to the wearable tech company for investment after researching the company and its products. He finally showed his belief in the tech startup and made the largest investment. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United player has invested in the company at the time when it is expanding its business into Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
Ronaldo stated:
“Whoop has had a transformative impact on my life both on and off the pitch, and I’m honored to join the team as an investor.”
Sources claim that Ronaldo also invested in CR7-branded clothing, perfumes, gyms, and even a selfie mobile application. Moreover, he opened the Italian restaurant Toto in Abu Dhabi in March in a venture with tennis star Rafael Nadal. In partnership with Whoop, Ronaldo aims to develop new products and services and boost their engagement with users. Ronaldo has joined high-profile Whoop investors, including American football quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Eli Manning, four-time golf major champion Rory McIlroy, and swimmer Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian.
The wearable technology company Whoop was founded in 2012. It has raised about $405 million. The company aims to foster its presence in the health metrics and human performance industries, dominated by companies such as Apple, Samsung, and Fitbit. It has been trying to set itself apart by focusing on core health tracking, data, accuracy, and privacy. Whoop products do not feature modern features such as notifications, e-mail, phone calls, and high-resolution screens. Mr. Ahmed stated:
“There are a lot of other products in the market that do more things . but the things that we do, we’re the best at it”
So, let’s wait and watch whether the Whoop partnership continues to raise the bar on its features and coaching as promised. Time will tell.
