The style gurus at Dell Computers are going to announce a limited-edition jewelry collection and interestingly that is made from gold mined from recycled motherboards. Dell Launches it’s Own Jewelry Line.

So Dell is no longer just an electronics company. The Company has collaborated with Nikki Reed, Twilight actress on the line. In Dell’s upcoming gold collection, all the pieces are made from gold that has been taken from used computer parts like motherboards.

All products are made in the US and include 14- and 18-carat gold rings, earrings, and cufflinks. Dell recycle precious materials which would likely have gone to waste, moreover the company can get even a decent profit for it. Prices start at $78 for Circular Collection and will be sold via Reed’s store Bayou With Love.

However, through a recently verified closed-loop gold process Dell is also using recycled gold in new motherboards. The company has announced an industry-first program to use recycled gold from used electronics in new motherboards, starting with the Latitude 5285 2-in-1 model that’s launching this spring.

Dell said:

It aims to use 100 million pounds of recycled material in its product portfolio by 2020. If you’d like to contribute a laptop to the cause, you can drop it off at any Goodwill that’s participating in the Dell Reconnect program.

To create millions of motherboards in the next year, Dell wants to use its closed loop gold process.
