PITB Directed To Modernize The Current Infrastructure

According to the latest reports, CM Punjab has directed the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to modernize the current infrastructure, including hotspots. This initiative aspires to improve internet accessibility in important areas by fostering connectivity and optimizing communication channels.

Maryam Nawaz approved the project during a recent high-level meeting with PITB officials. She accentuated the rollout of free WiFi services in educational institutions, airports, railway stations, and bus stands. Sources claim that the initiative will extend to 516 locations throughout Lahore. The service was once overseen by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL). However, now it will be managed by the PITB. This change is anticipated to bring significant advantages to the public, harbingering a new era of digital empowerment in Lahore.

In addition to that, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s scheme to provide motorcycles to students through interest-free installments has also garnered significant attention, with over 100,000 students registering on the portal. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) disclosed that they have received approximately 16,000 online applications through the online portal.
