Facebook buys Facial Recognition Tech Startup FacioMetrics

Facebook has already been working on the video and photos effect to take on Snapchat. For that reason, Facebook has recently introduced Prisma like effects for its Live feature. But now Facebook buys Facial Recognition Tech Startup FacioMetrics. By using this technology, Facebook will better challenge its rival Snapchat.

Facebook buys Facial Recognition Tech Startup FacioMetrics

A Facebook Spoke person said about this new step that:

“How people share and communicate is changing and things like masks and other effects allow people to express themselves in fun and creative ways. We’re excited to welcome the FacioMetrics team who will help bring more fun effects to photos and videos and build even more engaging sharing experiences on Facebook.”

FacioMetrics is a Facial recognition tech startup and founded in 2015. The startup uses artificial intelligence to give facial image analysis capabilities to applications that run on smartphones.

FacioMetrics founder and chief executive Fernando De la Torre said:

“We’re taking a big step forward by joining the team at Facebook, where we’ll be able to advance our work at an incredible scale, reaching people from across the globe,”

Facebook recently has also used a new machine intelligence technology called “Caffe2Go”. This technology uses “style Transfer” features for videos. Facebook “Caffe2Go” technology allows the data to processed on a smartphones. But this new update is only available for iOS users especially for iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 users only.

Facebook has recently announced to introduce a job opening feature for its users. This feature will allow Page admins to create Job postings on their pages. According to this new feature, they can also get applications from candidates. No doubt, this feature of Facebook is a big threat to LinkedIn.
