This project will serve as the hub for journalists and news publishers to learn and share. According to Facebook, it will provide facts and ideas in order to understand society.

Facebook said in a blog post:

At Facebook our mission is to connect the world, including connecting people with the information they want and need. That’s why we place such value on journalism: it gives us facts and ideas in order to understand society, and better understand each other.

The project will work in these three ways:

  • Collaborative Development of News Products: Facebook is working to collaborate with other news partners to promote their product.
  • Training and Tools for Journalists: Facebook is also introducing the news resources for news publishers. For that reason Facebook has also introduced training session in 9 languages with certification programs via Poynter Institute for Media. Facebook has also made CrowdTangle free to partners.
  • Training and Tools for Everyone: Facebook is also working to collaborate with organizations to better understand and promote news literacy both on and off our platform.
