Facebook Introduces Real Time Sports Stadium for Sports Lovers
Steve Kafka, a product manager at Facebook said:
“you can get the feeling you’re watching the game with your friends even when you aren’t together,”
The Facebook Sports Stadium is available via iOS. According to Facebook it is a feature that lives inside the core Facebook app, and it will be available on other platforms in the coming weeks. Currently this feature is available only for U.S. Football Games but Facebook plans to add other sports soon.
He added:
“We think it can really enhance awareness,”. “Maybe you weren’t paying attention and then you see your friends are having this discussion and that can pull you into the game. We think that’s a win-win for everybody. It drives more eyeballs to what [our content partners] are already sharing.
Facebook said
Facebook Sports Stadium currently covers only American football games and comes ahead of next month’s Super Bowl, on 7 February. But it will support other sports, including basketball and soccer, in the future,
Dan Reed, head of global sports partnerships at Facebook said:
