Facebook Say’s Sorry – “Year In review” App leaves most sad!

Facebook tried to bring back memories for many by “2014 Year review”

Some of the users who received their Year review were sad and hurt, as bad memories along with good ones provoke the sadness again. This social network site collected the whole year’s highlights from the user’s photos and posts and created a video for each user as to show how their year passed away. While some people’s highlights included a wedding or a trip, others contained more devastating highlights like the death of a loved one.

Many users were also annoyed at how pushy the feature is, constantly reminding users of its existence. The Year in review of Facebook users comes up as algorithm chooses default photos and moments that captured the most interaction. It is then posted for the user and users are, however, given the option to customize their “Year in Review” prior to sharing.

“Year in Review” was awesome for a lot of people, but clearly for many it brought grief rather than joy. The team behind the app is considering ways to improve it and will take concerns about many users into account.
