Feature Phones See Strong Demand as Pakistan Imports Over 10.8 Million Units in April

Feature phones continue to hold a strong position in Pakistan’s mobile market, with more than 10.88 million units imported in April 2026, according to recent industry data.

The figures highlight sustained demand for basic mobile devices despite the ongoing shift toward smartphones. Analysts say affordability, long battery life, and ease of use remain key drivers, particularly in rural areas and among low-income users.

Feature phones are also widely used as secondary devices, especially in regions facing frequent power outages, where extended battery backup is considered essential.

Leading Brands Drive Imports

Market data shows that imports are concentrated among a handful of budget-focused brands, with VGO TEL, itel, and QMobile leading the segment.

VGO TEL recorded the highest imports at around 275,000 units, followed by itel (178,000) and QMobile (137,500). Other brands, including Etachi, Nokia, and ZTE, also maintained notable volumes, reflecting steady demand across the low-cost segment.

Total Imports: 10,88,900 Units

The top three brands alone account for a significant share of total imports, underscoring the dominance of low-cost manufacturers in Pakistan’s feature phone market.

Industry experts note that nearly 29% of mobile users in Pakistan still rely on feature phones, pointing to a persistent gap in digital access. While smartphone adoption is increasing, affordability constraints and uneven internet availability continue to sustain demand for basic devices.

The latest data underscores a key reality: for a large segment of the population, reliability and cost still outweigh advanced features, keeping feature phones relevant in Pakistan’s evolving digital landscape.
