Daraz claims to become Pakistan’s first online store that has crossed PKR 1 billion sale during its yearly Black Friday event on November 25.

Many people downloaded Daraz  shopping App in the mobiles as the company promised to start presale on limited items, three days prior to Black Friday.

Visits to Daraz website had already been started before the sale has started. At 12 PM, on 25,November,2016, the website was down for an hour due to too much traffic. The floodgates truly opened, said the Daraz in a statement.

Referring to statistics shared by the firm, 20 percent of Pakistan’s total population visited Daraz on Black Friday. At one time the instantaneous traffic extended to 5X of the peak traffic from last year.

There was implausible sales momentum. The sale got off to a sizzling start with orders equal to 2 regular days in the first 10 seconds of the sale. Daraz climbed last year’s sale and traffic records just a few hours into the sale.

Bjarke Mikkelsen, CEO Daraz Group said:

Reaching Rs 1 billion in sales on a single day is a milestone not only for Daraz, but for all of Pakistan. E commerce is no longer a small part of the market but a cornerstone of the retail market. This year we focused on having a very large assortment of deals with deep inventory and a great shopping experience, so all our customers could get the products they had been dreaming of. I want to thank our sellers and our amazing team for making this possible

Daraz said that it had worked with partner brands and vendors for months, organizing and preparing them for the blockbuster sale of the year. The firm also made sure that its partners had profound stocks available for all the topmost products. the worked to make thousands and millions of customer to enjoy great deals.

A large investment was made in hiring a large Customer Service team. More Warehousing space was developed and Delivery capacity was improved to guarantee a smooth customer experience.

The company states that at 10 am of sale, Daraz had already exceeded the number of orders as compared to last years’ Black Friday. 55% of the total orders were on a mobile device which shows how Pakistan is increasingly a mobile-first market.

Customers showed more confidence in the safe and convenient online prepayment solution. 35% of the total orders were prepaid transactions with Easypaisa mobile account and MCB debit card.

There is a rush of people in all the leading malls, with people line up up outside retail stores, for the many Black Friday sales that are taking place. Daraz takes pride in starting a trend that will now go on forever.
