Four New iPhone 16 Pro Camera Features Coming This Year

The highly anticipated iPhone 16 series will bring many new features including larger displays, a dedicated Capture button, and more. Apple is expected to bring multiple noticeable improvements to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max camera hardware. Some latest leaks revealed four new camera features of the upcoming flagship series we can look forward to this year. Let’s dig into it.

Upcoming iPhone 16 Pro & 16 Pro Max To Boast 4 New Camera Features

The iPhone 16 series is currently anticipated to be announced in September. The series is tipped to boast several new features. If you want to know what iPhone 16 Pro camera improvements Apple will bring this year, you are at the right place.

Upgraded Ultra-Wide camera

According to numerous reports, the flagship killers iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will get an upgraded 48MP Ultra Wide camera this year. It will be a significant improvement from the existing 12 MP Ultra Wide camera in the iPhone 15 Pro. iPhone 16 Pro’s Ultra Wide camera will be much better in most shooting situations, especially in low-light environments. If you are planning to upgrade your phone just for photography purposes, the upcoming Apple series will definitely be the best option.

The photos and images will offer more detail and improved color, while the increased resolution will provide added flexibility in editing and post-processing. The iPhone 16 Pro’s 48MP Ultra Wide camera also hints at major improvements in spatial video recording. This feature depends on a combination of the Main and Ultra Wide lenses. iPhone 16 Pro will be able to record spatial video in 4K resolution with this ultra-wide camera.

Expanded optical zoom

iPhone 15 Pro Max uses a new tetaprism camera design to unlock 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom capabilities. Apple will include the upgraded tetaprism camera in the vanilla iPhone 16 Pro. The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro & 16 Pro Max will offer at least 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom. One of the rumors suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a “periscope ultra-long telephoto combination.” It will allow optical zoom greater than 5x.

Anti-reflective coating

One of the biggest problems every iPhone camera user faces is the ‘lens flare’ while shooting in bright lighting environments. This issue leads to unpredictable artifacts and lens flare internal reflections on images. According to the silicon giant, it is a hardware problem that affects most cameras on the market. The good part is that Apple will reportedly fix this issue in the upcoming iPhones. A rumor suggests the company is testing a new “atomic layer deposition” (or ALD) lens coating technology for the iPhone 16 Pro. This anti-reflective coating is anticipated to be applied to the iPhone 16 Pro’s camera lenses to reduce the effects of internal reflections.

Upgraded Main camera

Last but not least, the iPhone 16 Pro will use a new Main camera sensor from Sony. It will boast an upgraded design for better low-light performance. Sony claims this sensor will capture twice as much light compared to existing camera sensors. Capturing more light, and reducing more noise, means more promising photos for iPhone users. However, we still don’t know if this next-generation Sony sensor will be used in both iPhone 16 Pro models. Anyhow, let’s wait and watch what comes next. Till then stay tuned!
