Free Wi-Fi in Lahore: Over 200 Hotspots Now Live Across Punjab

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched a transformative initiative to provide free Wi-Fi services across Punjab. According to a report, over 200 locations in Lahore and 11 other districts are now equipped with free internet hotspots, allowing millions of residents to stay connected effortlessly.

Free Wi-Fi in Lahore: Over 200 Hotspots Now Live Across Punjab

The initiative covers 270 strategically placed Wi-Fi hotspots in cities such as Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, Attock, Sahiwal, Okara, and Murree. These hotspots ensure maximum accessibility in high-traffic areas, including public parks, government offices, educational institutions, and transportation hubs.

Millions of Users Already Benefiting

A spokesperson for the PSCA revealed that over 13 million users have already accessed the service, consuming more than 265 terabytes of data since the programโ€™s inception. The overwhelming response highlights the significance of this project in bridging the digital divide and offering free internet to those who might not have regular access.

Focused on Productivity, Not Entertainment

While the service provides unrestricted internet access, it has certain limitations. The PSCA clarified that it is not intended for video streaming or entertainment purposes. Instead, the initiative will fulfil essential online needs, such as accessing educational resources, conducting professional tasks, or staying informed.

Aligned with the Vision for a Digital Punjab

The project is part of the Punjab Chief Ministerโ€™s vision to transform the province into a digital hub. By integrating digital tools into everyday life, the government aims to enhance citizensโ€™ convenience while promoting digital literacy and inclusion.

How This Initiative Will Help People

The rollout of free Wi-Fi is a significant step toward empowering people across Punjab. It ensures that students have access to educational resources, professionals can stay connected to work, and small businesses can utilize online platforms to grow. Moreover, it supports marginalized communities by providing them opportunities to engage in the digital economy. By fostering connectivity and inclusivity, this initiative will improve the quality of life for millions of residents while paving the way for a more digitally advanced and prosperous Punjab.
