An Indian based company Ringing Bells announced World’s cheapest Android based smartphone Freedom 251. The price of this low cost smartphone is only Rs. 251 INR which more or less equals to $ 3.67.
It is really hard to believe to have a smartphone with some what good specifications in a price of starbucks coffee. Freedom 251 has a 4″ display size and is loaded with a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor. The phone has a RAM of 1 GB and internal storage of 8 GB which can be further extendable upto 32 GB with micro SD Card. Freedom 251 comes with a 3.2 mega-pixels rear camera and 0.3 mega-pixel front camera. The phone runs on Android 5.1 and is powered by 1450 mAh battery. To add some more sugar to the specifications of Freedom 251, it is a 3G enabled smartphone. Its not the end the company is also providing customers with one year warranty and more than 650 customer service centers in India.
With such specifications it is really interesting to know how the company is managing to sell the phone on such a low price. The phone is not at all a carrier contract phone and anyone can buy the phone. The smartphone is available online through company’s website and will delivered to the customers only in India with additional delivery cost of Rs. 40 INR ($ 0.6). The company started the sale of Freedom 251 on 18th Feb 2016 and in a couple of days the company claims to receive around 30 thousand orders.
Ringing Bells Pvt. Ltd is a not so well-known Noida (Indian) origin company. The company started working in September 2015. So far except from Freedom 251 the company has two bar phones, a 4G enabled smartphone which is also a really low cost phone with a price tag of Rs. 2999 INR ($45) and a power bank on their product list. After the launch of Freedom 251 for such a low price the company becomes so popular that everyone is looking for their products. The company is also planning to introduce LED TV worth Rs. 1200 INR in near future. Lets see how well the company can do with its low cost strategy.
