Galaxy S10 In-Screen Fingerprint Sensor ‘Confirmed’

We all know that Samsung is trying to feature in-display fingerprint sensor from the last few years but failed to do so. The new report suggested that in-display fingerprint sensor will be deployed in next year’s Galaxy S10. Surprisingly, Chinese tech giant, Vivo had Huawei have devices inclusive of an in-display fingerprint scanner and it seems that Samsung is pressured to join the race and launch Galaxy S10 In-Screen Fingerprint Sensor device.

Galaxy S10 In-Screen Fingerprint Sensor uses UltraSonic Technology by Qualcomm

The report further suggested that Samsung display is making super AMOLED display element with Qualcomm which will include an ultrasonic solution to allow for the scanner inside. On the other hand, Vivo has gone with the optical solution.

Using an ultrasonic sensor in the Galaxy S10 might be a good idea on Samsung’s part. The feature is more reliable and more secure than a standard optical sensor because it sends an ultrasonic pulse to the finger to analyze pores and ridges. It can also use depth to identify a person’s fingerprint. That all translates to a lower chance of your fingerprint being duped by a would-be hacker.

It means Galaxy S10 will be the first Samsung device to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. However, some people are not very happy with the Samsung’s decision of including ultrasonic sensors as they fear with this new technology the device will get more expensive and since it’s a new technology may be Samsung would not be able to do justice with it as per its previous records. Moreover, as the device is set to launch next year, we hope that Samsung does not ditch its users this time as well.
