Samsung has launched Galaxy S7 and S7 edge three years back. The company also continues to issue a security update in these devices. However now, Samsung has brought some changes in the plan. Earlier, Galaxy S7 and S7 edge get quarterly updates. But now, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will not Get Quarterly Security Updates Anymore.
Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will Get Security Updates when the company wants
Samsung has categorized its devices based on how often it issues security updates for them. There are some high-end newest devices which get updates on a monthly basis. Then comes the smartphones which get the quarterly update. There is a third type which Samsung calls “other regular security updates”. This is where the S7 and S7 edge have ended up.
No doubt, Galaxy S7, and S7 edge are old phones and bringing security update into its old phones will not be as fruitful as bringing new innovations in the upcoming devices. Not only this, the phones launched in that time when the company faced some loss because of Note 7 battery issue. That issue really threatened the trust level of its customers. It may possible, there are not many users of S7 and S7 edge. So, bringing new updates in such a model will not be fruitful for the company.
However, the only thing that is a little strange is that Galaxy S7 Active will still continue to get updates on a monthly basis. Galaxy S7 Active launched after three months of S7 and S7 edge launch.
