Galaxy Watch 7 FCC Listing Hints at 50% Faster Charging

Samsung is prepping for the highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event 2024. Rumors claim that the tech giant could reveal the Galaxy Watch 7 series in the upcoming event set for July. However, the company has not officially revealed any information about the new series yet. The much-anticipated Galaxy Watch 7 has surfaced on several certification platforms revealing some key information. Recently, the Watch 7 series got listed on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with model numbers SM-L300, SM-L305, SM-L310, and SM-L315, alongside a Galaxy Watch FE with model number SM-R861. Let’s dig into what the listing reveals.

Galaxy Watch 7 to Offer 15W fast wireless charging

As per the listing, Galaxy 7 Watches with model numbers SM-L300 and SM-L310 seem to be Wi-Fi only. However, the AM-L305 and SM-L315 are anticipated to be the LTE versions. The SM-L300 and SM-L310 variants will come with 40mm and 44mm diameters respectively. Moreover, the SM-L305 (supporting LTE) will also boast 15W fast wireless charging. For those unaware, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 5 support 10W wireless charging. It will be a 50% speed jump compared to its predecessor. Anyhow, we’re still not sure how much of a difference this will make in wireless charging times. Any idea?

The model number of the new 15W wireless charger is EP-OL300. Unfortunately, the listing does not disclose any information about the chipset or battery of the new series. Previous rumors claim that the upcoming Watch series will come with the Exynos W930 (5nm) chip having dual 1.4GHz Cortex-A55 cores. Moreover, it will be powered by a 425mAh battery. Additionally, it will run OneUI Watch 5 based on Android Wear OS 4.

Notably, the Galaxy Watch FE with the model number, SM-R861 will offer a slower 5W wireless charging support as per the listing. It is the same as the Galaxy Watch 4. The FE model also appeared on the latest OneUI build hinting at an imminent launch.

Samsung has been working on its upcoming highly anticipated 3nm Exynos chipset these days. Samsung and Synopsys revealed in a press release that Samsung’s foundries are preparing for the mass production of the first 3nm Exynos chip. The company wants to fine-tune the whole manufacturing process to maximize yields and improve the chip’s performance.
