Galaxy Z Fold Wide Leaks Reveal Design Compared to Huawei Pura X Max

Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch a new foldable smartphone with a wider design, often referred to in leaks as the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. This move appears to be part of a growing trend in the smartphone market, where brands are experimenting with different aspect ratios to improve usability and compete with upcoming devices. One of its closest comparisons right now is Huawei’s recently announced Pura X Max, which already represents this wider foldable approach.
According to recent leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold Wide may feature a noticeably different shape compared to previous Fold models. When unfolded, it will measure around 123.9 mm in width, 164.4 mm in height, and just 4.3 mm in thickness. When folded, the thickness increases to about 9.8 mm, while the width and height adjust to 123.9 mm and 82.2 mm, respectively. These numbers suggest a slimmer profile, especially when the device is opened up.
Galaxy Z Fold Wide Leaks Reveal Design Compared to Huawei Pura X Max
In comparison, the Huawei Pura X Max is slightly taller and thicker. Reports indicate that it measures 120 mm by 166.5 mm by 5.2 mm when unfolded, and 120 mm by 85 mm by 11.2 mm when folded. While the differences are not huge, they are enough to show that Samsung is aiming for a thinner and slightly more compact design in certain dimensions.
One of the key differences between the two devices lies in their aspect ratios. The Galaxy Z Fold Wide features a 4.7:3 ratio for its outer display and a 4:3 ratio for the inner folding screen. This is a notable shift, as it resembles the more square-like displays seen in older monitors and tablets. Such a design could make the device more comfortable for tasks like reading, browsing, and multitasking.
The Huawei Pura X Max also adopts a wide format, though its exact ratios differ slightly. Even so, both devices clearly target users who prefer a broader screen experience rather than the tall and narrow format found in many current foldables. This wider approach may improve app compatibility and make the devices feel more like tablets when unfolded.

Despite these similarities, the two companies operate in different markets. Huawei has a strong presence in China but is less active globally, while Samsung remains a dominant player in many international regions. This means that even if the devices are similar in design, they may not directly compete in every market.
The Galaxy Z Fold Wide will launch in July alongside other foldable models from Samsung, including the next versions of its Fold and Flip series. If the leaks turn out to be accurate, this device could mark an important step in the evolution of foldable smartphones, offering users a new balance between portability and screen size.
Overall, the comparison between these two devices highlights how quickly the foldable category is evolving. Manufacturers are no longer just focusing on making foldables thinner, but also on improving how they feel and function in everyday use.
