United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is managing a programme called Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP), which includes a global competition aimed at promotion of Innovations in the area of Clean Technologies. This global competition is simultaneously carried out in seven countries around the world, the main aim of this competition is to foster innovations including:

• Renewable energy
• Energy Efficiency
• Water Efficiency
• Waste to Energy and Green Building

The target market of Cleantech competition is SMEs and Startup companies. This programme involves extensive mentoring, training, access to investors and opportunities to showcase their innovations. Winners will be given prizes ranging from US$ 15,000 to 20,000 plus mentoring and training in Silicon Valley, USA.

GCIP is a business accelerator programme which aims at converting Cleantech ideas into viable businesses. Through GCIP Call for Awards, UNIDO is providing a reliable and repeatable process that increases the chances of making a Cleantech startup successful. Entrepreneurs progressively “de-risk” their businesses, with the aim of making them more attractive to prospective investors and customers.”
