Google Brings 350,000 Google Career Certificates Nationwide to Accelerate Pakistan’s Digital Skills Push

As artificial intelligence and digital technologies continue to reshape how people work, learn and build businesses, access to practical skills is becoming increasingly important for Pakistan’s workforce. Students, professionals, freelancers, entrepreneurs and public-sector employees are all navigating a job market in which digital capabilities are no longer optional, but central to future growth.

Against this backdrop, Google has expanded its digital-skills initiative in Pakistan to provide a total of 350,000 Google Career Certificates nationwide. The milestone follows the addition of 150,000 new scholarships this year and marks a significant step in the country’s efforts to prepare more people for an increasingly AI-driven economy.

The expansion places accessibility at the heart of the initiative. Through online, globally recognised courses, learners across Pakistan can develop practical skills in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Project Management, Digital Marketing and E-Commerce. Its nationwide reach is intended to reduce barriers created by geographical location, limited training opportunities and the high cost of conventional professional education.

Since 2022, Google has steadily increased its investment in digital learning in Pakistan. The latest milestone shifts the program from a series of individual learning opportunities into a broader workforce-development effort. Rather than focusing only on certification, the initiative is designed to help participants apply new capabilities to employment, freelancing, entrepreneurship and community development.

The rollout is being supported by local partners, including TechValley, the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) and the Higher Education Department (HED), among others. Government participation has also strengthened the program’s national relevance. The Ministry of IT & Telecommunication (MoITT) has mandated that every ministry official complete two Google Career Certificate courses, extending the skills drive into the public sector and supporting the use of AI and digital tools in government work.

The 350,000-certificate milestone is significant not only because of its scale, but because previous participants have already used the training to change their professional and economic direction.

Leena Kumari’s journey reflects how digital skills can open unexpected career pathways. After completing the Google AI Essentials course, she secured a role at Evolution through the Career Kamyabi platform, where she now works on educational content development. Alongside her professional role, she remains committed to community empowerment through digital learning.

Komal Qureshi’s story highlights determination shaped by structured learning and career ambition. After completing the Project Management specialization under Google Career Certificates, she stepped into a professional role as a Project Associate at an engineering consultancy firm. With her sights set on building her own civil engineering consultancy in the future, she is steadily translating education into real-world impact.

Sakina Ali transformed her entrepreneurial vision into reality by building on multiple Google Career Certificates, including Digital Marketing & E-Commerce, Project Management, and Business Analytics. These skills enabled her to launch a successful online fashion boutique, bringing her business idea to life in the digital space. In doing so, she is showing how diverse digital skills can come together to unlock independent and scalable entrepreneurship.

Nadia Iqbal is redefining access to opportunity through digital education. As the founder of Tech Alphalogix, she has empowered more than 250 women by providing access to Google Career Certificates and digital skills training, helping them overcome barriers related to education, mobility, and financial constraints.
