Google Photos Temporarily Shuts Down for Android TV

A user has tweeted about a bug in Android TV that allows people to view the accounts of hundreds of other Google Photos users, enabling them to access their private images. Most users are satisfied with the perks providing by Android TV, you can easily integrate Google services into it. However, one of those services, will not be available and that is, of course, Google Photos, just because of the creepy bug.

Google Photos Temporarily Shuts Down for Android TV

The bug has compelled Google to disable the sharing of Google Photos via Android TV until the company resolves the issue. This privacy bug was initially revealed with Prashanth’s Vu LED TV, that showed the Google accounts of users who also owned the same model of TV. However, another Twitter user has also highlighted the same issue occurring with his iFFalcon Android TV.

Google mentioned in a statement:

We take our users’ privacy extremely seriously. While we investigate this bug, we have disabled the ability to remotely cast via the Google Assistant or view photos from Google Photos on Android TV devices.

While no has been reported any harm with this bug until now. Google has taken the immediate action and disabled the Ambient Mode screensaver from working with Google Photos and disabled the ability to Cast devices using Google Assistant as a precaution from it continuing to occur, according to GSMA. Well, it is unknown yet how much time will Google take to fix the issue.
