Google will no Longer Display Instant Search Results as you Type because it makes no sense on mobiles. Most of the searches of Google happen on mobile devices these days.It means that instant search is finally dead.

The search engine, Google launched its instant search back in 2010. It claimed that instant search will save million of seconds per hour as users type something. Instant search feature was loved my many users but hated by more.
Google will no Longer Display Instant Search Results as you Type
Instant search was introduced under the guidance of Marissa Mayer who was the Google’s VP. This feature will have saved few seconds but the lag due to it costed more time. On Mobile devices instant search had terrible results. It was inconvenient and nearly impossible for the page to update itself according to what is typed on such small screens.
As maximum number of searches are carried on mobile devices now a days, the search giant has decided to get rid of instant search.
Speaking to Search Engine Land, a Google spokesperson said:
The feature was removed to provide a better experience for mobile users and to make Google consistent across platforms
For people who hated it, now you do not have to go to settings to turn instant search off. Now when you will search anything, Google will give just few suggestions without automatically displaying search results.
