The announcement was made on December 13, 2025, by Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan. The initiative aims to strengthen learning opportunities and help students adapt to modern education systems.
Rana Mashhood shared the details while speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad. He said that empowering young people is the government’s top priority. According to him, education and skills development are essential for national progress. He stressed that every student deserves equal access to learning tools, regardless of their background or location.

The Chromebook distribution is designed to support students at multiple levels. Learners from schools, colleges, and universities will benefit from the program. These devices will help students attend online classes, complete assignments, and access digital libraries. With technology becoming central to education, the government wants to ensure that no student is left behind.
Rana Mashhood also highlighted the role of overseas Pakistanis. He said many overseas Pakistanis are eager to invest in the country. Their investments can help strengthen the economy and create new jobs. He added that such economic growth will open doors for young people to gain skills and find employment in the future.
The program is being carried out in partnership with the TIF Foundation Lahore. The foundation will help provide 0.7 million Chromebooks as part of this collaboration. The goal is to improve the online learning ecosystem across Pakistan. By providing reliable devices, the initiative seeks to make digital education more accessible and effective.
The chairman explained that the distribution will happen in phases. This approach will help maintain transparency and fairness. A structured process will ensure that the devices reach deserving students across the country. Authorities aim to avoid favoritism and ensure proper monitoring at every stage.
The Chromebooks will give students access to updated academic resources. Learners will be able to use educational software and research tools. These features will support creative learning and independent study. Students can also develop digital skills that are increasingly required in higher education and the job market.

A key focus of the program is inclusivity. Rana Mashhood announced that students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also be included. This decision reflects the government’s aim to provide equal educational opportunities in all regions. Students from remote and underserved areas will benefit from the same resources as those in major cities.
Education experts believe this initiative can reduce the digital divide. Many students struggle due to a lack of devices and internet access. Providing Chromebooks can help address this issue. It can also encourage teachers to use more digital tools in classrooms.
Overall, the Chromebook distribution program reflects Pakistan’s commitment to youth development. By investing in education and technology, the government hopes to prepare students for future challenges. If implemented effectively, this initiative could play a key role in shaping a more skilled and digitally aware generation.
