Govt Plans To Establish 10 IT Parks by 2025

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, recently chaired a review meeting of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications in Islamabad. During the meeting, it was revealed that the government has plans to establish ten new IT parks across the country by next year. Additionally, 100 new e-employment centers will be set up in Pakistan by next year.

Reports claim that the Islamabad IT Park project will be completed next year in partnership with South Korea. It will provide startups, incubation centers, banks, restaurants, and other facilities. South Korea is also cooperating in establishing an IT park project near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, which will be completed by 2027. 43 software technology parks have been established in 29 different cities of Pakistan so far.

IT Parks Will Provide Facilities To Startups

During the meeting, the Prime Minister said IT parks will boost the country’s IT growth, and exports. Moreover, they will provide facilities for start-ups. Shehbaz Sharif directed that the construction work of Islamabad IT Park should be completed at the earliest. Moreover, he has also directed to conduct a third-party evaluation regarding the performance of software technology parks.

In a significant development, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has given the green light for the development of the country’s largest IT park in Islamabad. A plot measuring 3.3 acres is already reserved for the IT Park in sector G-10 of the federal capital. This enterprising project aims to house approximately five to six thousand freelancers, facilitating a conducive environment for innovation and collaboration.

The IT Park will reportedly operate under a public-private partnership model. Furthermore, it will provide efficient management and utilization of resources. In addition to providing workspaces for freelancers, the park will also allot an area for essential amenities such as a library and a hub for showcasing IT products.
