GSMA Organizes ‘Next step for securing Pakistan’s Mobile Broadband Future’ Seminar

A fruitful session of stakeholders on the telecom draft policy & various aspects of the policy

GSMA organized an event in Serena Hotel, Islamabad; the main theme of the event was to highlight the future face of Pakistan’s telecom policy in a way that ensures long-term growth in the telecom sector in Pakistan.

The event started with the welcome and introduction note by the new CEO Zong and it was followed by short speech from Chris Zull, Spectrum Director, Asia Pacific at GSMA.

The seminar was then taken forward by Chairman PTA. Dr. Ismail, who shared the idea of ‘Think Globally, Act Locally’ and he also emphasized on the power of ‘BIG 9’ i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Youtube, Tumblr, Linkedin, Pintrest and Stumble.

CEO Ericsson Pakistan Mr. Ashley Gold presented a “guide for Policymakers” so that they may have a better understanding of how to make a flawless policy.

Minsiter Anusha Rehman was the chief guest of the seminar, during the seminar, she said it was her dream to bring technological revolution in Pakistan and her team has strived hard to materialize that dream. Pakistan winning seat as member of the Administrative Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is one of the achievements of our telecom regulatory and authorities.

She also said that Pakistan’s New ICT Policy will be out soon for which the Consultants have completed their work including initial consultations with mobile operators.

Many other industry experts were present at the seminar, who gave a very informative presentation on what the industry and consumer should expect in future.
