Here Comes Instagram Request Verification Option

The Facebook-owned service Instagram has started to test a new verification process with an official request form. This official request form will be publicly accessible within the app for the first time. Instagram Request Verification will let the users verify their accounts inside the Instagram App for the first time.

Instagram Request Verification- Everything you Need to Know

Verification provides you legitimacy and trustworthiness. Instagram is one of the major social platforms so verification is a much-needed thing in order to avoid scams. However, few accounts have been verified by the company but users have never been given an access to the public-facing way in order to request for the blue checkmark. In the past, the Instagram verification has lead to a black market. Instagram used to charge about $15,000 to facilitate verification of a user who claimed to have connections at the company. A number of users have been scammed due to such non-working schemes.

Availability of Request Verification Option

The verification form is only available in Instagram’s iPhone app in Australia and a few other unspecified countries right now. However, the company said that this request verification option will be available to Android users over the next couple weeks in those countries.

Users will have to provide their account info and a copy of their ID to request verification. Although the company has revealed that they are not sure about the global availability of this feature because this form is still a test for them now.

While discussing it, Instagram’s strategic partner manager for the APAC region, Nicci Meek stated that:

“This new feature will allow our community the opportunity to apply for verification themselves, and understand the process behind getting verified on Instagram. We believe opening up verification to the public will also work towards safeguarding our community,”

In addition to it, the requirements for verification have not been changed. The blue tick is still reserved for the authentic presence of a notable public figure, celebrity, global brand or entity. The company is hoping to end the scams so Let’s see what new features will be added to this verification form during testing before making it globally available.
