Honor Play 80 Goes Official with Big Battery and 5G Support

Honor has officially introduced the Honor Play 80, expanding its Play series lineup just a day after launching the Play 80 Pro in China. The Honor Play 80 targets budget-conscious users by offering essential features with a focus on battery life and 5G connectivity.
The Honor Play 80 comes with a 6.75-inch LCD that delivers a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. While the resolution is modest by current standards, the inclusion of a 90Hz refresh rate helps provide smoother scrolling and a better overall viewing experience. This makes the phone suitable for everyday use, such as browsing, social media, and video streaming.

Under the hood, the device comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, which supports 5G connectivity. This processor is designed for entry-level smartphones, offering a balance between performance and efficiency. It should handle basic tasks like messaging, web browsing, and light gaming without major issues, though it may not be ideal for heavy multitasking or demanding applications.
In terms of software, the Honor Play 80 runs on Android 15 with Honor’s MagicOS 9 layered on top. While Android 15 is still relatively recent, some users may find the software choice less exciting given the pace at which newer versions are being adopted in the smartphone market.
The camera setup on the device is quite simple. It features a single 13-megapixel rear camera, which is suitable for basic photography. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. These specifications indicate that photography is not the main focus of this device, but it should still meet the needs of users looking for a functional camera system.

One of the stronger aspects of the Honor Play 80 is its battery. The phone comes with a 5,300 mAh battery, which provides long usage times on a single charge. Whether it is for daily communication, media consumption, or light gaming, users can expect the device to last through most of the day without needing frequent recharging. However, it supports only 15W wired charging, which means charging speeds will be relatively slow compared to higher-end devices.
In terms of design, the phone measures 167 x 77 x 7.89 mm and weighs 186 grams. It is available in multiple color options, including two shades of blue and black, giving users a bit of variety to choose from.
Honor is offering the Play 80 in several memory and storage configurations. Buyers can choose between 4GB or 6GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage, as well as higher-end options with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. This flexibility allows users to pick a version that suits their needs and budget.
The company has not revealed any information about its launch in other markets, including Pakistan. But we will update you when we get more information about it. So stay tuned for more updates.
