Honor Robot Phone Appears in Leaked Unboxing Video Ahead of Official Launch

A leaked hands-on video has offered one of the clearest looks yet at Honor’s upcoming robot phone, showcasing its premium packaging and the device’s headline feature, a mechanically stabilized gimbal camera system.

The smartphone is expected to debut in China within the coming days, with an official launch anticipated during the third quarter of 2026. Honor has already opened pre-orders in China and confirmed several key hardware specifications, while the device has also received MIIT and 3C certifications.

The short video, shared on Chinese social media platform Weibo, provides a glimpse of the retail box before briefly demonstrating the phone’s unique camera mechanism. During the demonstration, the camera remains level even as the handset is moved, highlighting the capabilities of its 4DoF mechanical gimbal stabilization system.

According to Honor, the robotic camera arm extends in approximately 0.8 seconds, accompanied by a dedicated animation within the camera application. The company says the stabilization system combines mechanical hardware with AI-powered image processing and carries CIPA 5.5 certification for image stabilization.

The large camera module is expected to house a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 200-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, making photography one of the device’s primary selling points.

Leaks suggest the Honor Robot Phone will feature a 6.3-inch or 6.4-inch 1.5K OLED display alongside flagship-grade hardware. Despite incorporating a complex mechanical camera system, the device is reportedly equipped with a 6,000mAh battery, although the sizeable camera module appears to occupy a significant portion of the rear panel.

The smartphone’s packaging also features the slogan “Your First Robot Phone,” underscoring Honor’s efforts to position the device as a new category within the premium smartphone market.

Honor has yet to announce the official launch date or global availability, but with certification approvals completed and promotional activity intensifying, the company’s latest flagship is expected to be unveiled soon.
