HTC launches ‘Fetch’ – A tracker device for its mobile phones

HTC launches ‘Fetch’ – A tracking device that helps in display handset locations on Google Maps and alert owners when they leave their instruments behind.

[blockquote cite=””] You will never lose your HTC phone if you have Fetch. This can be paired (connected wirelessly) with any HTC One series phone. As soon as an HTC One owner walks 10 meters beyond the phone, both device and phone will start ringing. An e-mail will immediately go on his mail showing location of the phone on Google Maps.

  • The company introduced the tracker on Friday along with the HTC One Max. Users who want to track their devices need only press the button on the keychain device, measuring 29.35 x 29.35 x 9.3mm, to activate their smartphone’s ringtone.
  • The device can be paired with handsets via Bluetooth and will give off a warning beep if the user happens to leave the handset behind.
  • The device also comes with a replaceable battery that will last for 6 months.
  • Fetch is compatible only with the HTC One mini, HTC Butterfly S and the HTC One Max.

If the user loses both Fetch and their device, they can make use of the map location feature to where the tracker and the handset were last together. The company has said that the working range for Fetch is 15 meters, although it may vary depending on operating environment.

The company has still not announced when the tracker will be available in the market, and the official website currently says that Fetch will be coming soon. The device is available only in the color black.
