Chang joined HTC as its Chief Financial Officer in 2012 before becoming the smartphone and connected devices president in 2016. HTC’s website lists Chang’s reason for leaving as “personal career path,” while reports suggest he plans to launch an AI startup later this year.
HTC is facing some loss in its smartphone manufacturing. HTC is continuously facing major loss in revenue. According to the year-on-year revenue report, HTC’s revenue decline 27%.
According to some reports, HTC will Launch fewer phones instead it will Focus on R&D in 2018. Not only this, Google has bought HTC’s Smartphone Expertise for $1.1 Billion. HTC said at that time that it will continue onward with its own smartphone business even after sending a good portion of its talent and operations over to Google.So it may be the reason that HTC will produce less smartphones next year.
