Huawei P10 & P10 Plus Android Oreo Update Rolling Out

Just when range of P20 is about to be launched, Huawei is showing its previous P-series flagship some love by rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the P10 and P10 Plus. Huawei had launched its flagship devices P9 and P9 Plus two years ago. Now it is launching Huawei P10 & P10 Plus Android Oreo Update.

This news in announced by Huawei Phillippines official Facebook page.  Very little information is included in the post but it appears that this is a global update, although this could be staggered by region – we’ll keep an eye out for further confirmation.

P9 is powered by Huawei’s new Kirin 955 processor, an octacore chip (4×2.5GHz and 4×1.8GHz cores). It has a 3,000mAh battery. It is powered by Android 6.0, coupled with the new type of Huawei’s EMUI customization.

The typical, 5.2-inch full HD screen standard version is joined by a 5.5-inch full HD “P9 Plus” sibling. This device also perceives a bump in battery capacity, to 3,400 mAh.

P9 Plus also gets support for pressure sensitive touch input, it is not the first Huawei device to support this, but it has not been broadly embraced through its portfolio, either.

We have already told our readers about the features of Oreo based EMUI 8.0 firmware. Standard Oreo features like Picture-in-Picture mode, notification dots, and much more, the update also brings with it a floating navigation dock, AI-based optimizations, and a host of other tweaks and cosmetic changes to Huawei’s custom UI.

As of now, it’s unknown if other regions are also receiving the Android Oreo update along with EMUI 8.0. Huawei has also not provided a changelog for the update. In January, the beta update’s changelog stated that the update contained performance improvements, the addition of the navigation dock, a redesigned settings menu, and a 30-day recycle bin for the Gallery app.
