Chinse Smartphone Manufacturer, Huawei has witnessed a Tremendous Increase in 4G market share in Pakistan– H1 2018. With around  130 million smartphone devices sold last year, Huawei has certainly taken a stride in the smartphone market.

Previously Pakistani Market was captured by Samsung but with time Pakistani interest in Samsung devices faded off as they got the smartphones with the same specifications at cost effective prices.

According to our Market insights team, the market share of 4G compatible Samsung devices was 32.1 % in January 2018 and just in one month, in February 2018, the market share of Samsung decreased to 31.3. After many ups and downs, the market share of Samsung in the month of June 2018 is further decreased to 29.7.

On the other Hand, Huawei’s market share kept on increasing at a smooth pace. It started with 18.3 % in January 2018. The next two months market share reduced by 1%. In April, Huawei 4G devices witnessed an abrupt increase to 21.2% from 17%. In next couple of month, Huawei market share was 26.8 in June 2018. The abrupt increase in Huawei’s market share indicates that more people are shifting towards it. It also shows that Huawei has captured almost all classes by launching flagships and lighter versions of those flagships.

Huawei has been perceived as a smartphone maker that caters well to the mid-range smartphone consumers especially in foreign markets.

With Pakistan being its second largest smartphone market after China and the largest International market, the country’s response to this policy is set to have a global impact on future decisions Huawei tend to make in the smartphone.

It should be mentioned here that OPPO also performed very well in the first half of 2018. In January, Oppo had a market share of 22.6% which increased it to 24.2 in two months. However, in the Month of June 2018, the market share of oppo decreased to 20%. However, we cannot outlook that Oppo is a new brand and it has captured the Pakistani market very well in the small span of time.

Only time will tell, whether Huawei will be able to overcome the smartphone giant Samsung in Pakistan and how other brands will improve their market position in the country.
